Carl Jung

$1,860.00Price
  • As a young artist I was fascinated by people who had made an impact on society whether they were mathematicians, psychologists, or spiritual leaders. I read and studied much of their work and what other people in their field of study said about them.  One of the people I studied at length was Carl Jung, a well-known psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who is a key figure in modern psychological theories.  One of his theories that intrigued me was his idea that the human psyche is not only shaped by personal experiences but also by a collective unconsciousness shared by all humans.  There is a great deal written about Dr. Jung that is readily available online.  Many times, I would paint the people I studied.  This painting is one of many that I’ve painted of the people I knew to be legendary in their field and who have influenced my own thinking.

When I was a poor starving artist in Seattle in the '70s, a friend's dad purchased many of my paintings including this one. The years passed by, and I had long forgotten I painted this until one day a man contacted me about it. He had purchased this from my friend a long time ago, and because he was moving to the east coast, he needed to downsize his art collection. So, this piece came back to me.

This original is now available, here.   It is 30" x 40", acrylic on canvas.
