Watermelon Man I

1 160,00$Prix
  • A VICTOR STEVEN ROSENBERG Limited Edition Print

When I was 7 or 8 my family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a time. It is hot in Tulsa in the summertime. So, in the evenings we would go down to a watermelon stand with tables under an awning. I remember the strings of twinkling lights that lit up the tables and all the little bugs flitting around. When you purchased a watermelon, a big man wielding a very big knife would pull one out of a large trough of ice water and cut it for us. No better way to cool off after a long, hot day. When I was a poor starving artist in Seattle in the '70s, a friend's dad purchased many of my paintings including this one. When he passed on, his son inherited all of my art. This painting graced the different homes of my friend and his wife for many years, who just happen to be organic farmers. When they saw I was actively selling my art online, they sent this painting and one other to me to sell. When 'Watermelon Man' sells, half of the proceeds will go to my friends.
