Watermelon Man I

This painting carries the warmth of a childhood memory—hot Tulsa summers, a simple watermelon stand, and the cool relief of fruit pulled fresh from a trough of ice water. I can still see the twinkling lights, the bugs flitting about, and the man with the big knife slicing open a melon for us. Decades later, this piece has lived many lives, passing through the hands of collectors before finding its way back to me.
