Dragon View
Some landscapes stay with you long after you’ve left them. On a road trip through Arizona, somewhere between Jerome and Sedona, we came across a vast, open expanse, without camera or sketchbook—I just let it settle in my memory.
When I painted it later, something unexpected happened. The land itself took on a different presence, almost as if I were seeing it through a dragon’s eyes—a sweeping, untamed view of the world from a creature older than time. I don’t know why that thought struck me, but once it did, I couldn’t unsee it.
At 20" x 16", this acrylic on canvas piece captures not just a landscape, but the feeling of something vast, primal, and just beyond human understanding.
