Boot Canyon, AZ
I always get a kick out of it when things come together in unexpected ways. This painting started as a study of the Sonoran landscape, but when I stepped back, I realized I had subconsciously painted cowboy boots into the scene. It's one of those moments where you can't help but smile—when the art takes on a life of its own and surprises you.
The title is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek nod to that discovery. The landscape is wild and untamed, with those rich desert hues and the rugged, iconic mountains that make the Sonoran so unique. But if you look closely, you'll start to see the boots, almost like they're woven into the land itself.
At 60" x 30", this acrylic on canvas piece brings the energy of the desert to life, with a bit of humor tucked in for good measure.
