Making art, for me, has always been an act of discovery. I rarely begin a painting knowing exactly where it will lead. With this piece, I knew only that I was painting a male figure. Who he would become didn’t reveal itself until the final brushstroke was laid down.

The name came later. There was something in his face—his presence, his quiet authority—that called to mind a Biblical figure. But which one remains open. Is this Joshua, the warrior and leader of the Old Testament? Or is it Yeshua—Jesus—whose name, translated, is also Joshua?

I leave that question to the viewer. This painting isn’t meant to define an answer, but to open a space for reflection. What you see here may shift depending on where you are when you encounter it.
