Sunset Canyon
"I live with Victor’s art 24-7 and it never, never gets old. ‘Sunset Canyon’ is a painting that he gave me after the last brush stroke because I fell in love with it. It reminds me of the Grand Canyon and the summer storms that move across its ever-changing landscape. When the clouds roll in, the Canyon walls change as the cloud shadows play across their surfaces. From far off you can see a storm sweep through the Canyon before moving off into the distant desert, leaving behind the fresh smell of creosote. As with all my landscapes, this is painted from my memories of trips out into the Sonoran Desert of Southern Arizona. I take mental and emotional pictures, go back to the studio, and over time paint my impression of those glorious wanderings in the field.
